Alex Decoteau was een Cree-Canadees atleet, politieagent en soldaat. Geboren op 19 november 1887 op de Red Pheasant First Nation in Saskatchewan, werd hij de eerste inheemse politieagent in Canada toen hij in 1911 bij de politie van Edmonton kwam. Decoteau was een getalenteerde langeafstandsloper en vertegenwoordigde Canada op de Olympische Spelen van 1912 in Stockholm. Hij diende ook in het Canadese leger tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog en sneuvelde op 30 oktober 1917 tijdens de Slag om Passendale in België.
Alex Decoteau was a Cree-Canadian athlete, police officer, and soldier. Born on November 19, 1887, on the Red Pheasant First Nation in Saskatchewan, he became the first Indigenous police officer in Canada when he joined the Edmonton police in 1911. Decoteau was a talented long-distance runner and represented Canada at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He also served in the Canadian Army during World War I and was killed on October 30, 1917, during the Battle of Passchendaele in Belgium.

Decoteau était un coureur de fond talentueux et a représenté le Canada aux Jeux olympiques de Stockholm en 1912. Il a également servi dans l’armée canadienne pendant la Première Guerre mondiale et a été tué le 30 octobre 1917 lors de la bataille de Passchendaele en Belgique.
